The Republik, an indie-progressive rock band based out of Fort Lauderdale, is taking a stand against defunding the arts. All four members of the band are products of performing arts programs in FL public schools.
We have one clear message: Defunding the arts in public schools is not the way to save money. The Florida Legislature, session after session, threatens budget cuts to the Arts programs from higher education on down to the elementary school level.
The Republik is embarking on their state-wide "Publik Education" tour to raise awareness and collect signatures for this petition.
This petition represents the voices of the majority of Floridians that won't stand for the ultimate drain of the future of culture in our state.
We are asking Governor Rick Scott to stop bills that reallocate money from public schools' arts programs.
We are asking for NO MORE CUTS.
