I am very worried about the potential impact to the health and well being of the people in my city. I've always considered the service provided by our fire services to be top notch and would be appalled with any change there.

There is no defensible reason to implement this short-sighted deployment plan, in the absence of industry standards, inclusive of NFPA 1710, and the Fire Marshal's Integrated Risk Management matrix. Please keep the positive momentum going by signing this petition, which hopefully will influence Council to bring back a motion to revisit and defer this new deployment plan until such time that a fully transparent strategy based on best practices is provided by an independent third party and made public to the community, and other relevant stakeholders. What's at stake........your safety, protection of your property, deterring economic growth, and a substantial increase in insurance premiums to name a few.

Just saying a firefighter can help with a medical issue but a paramedic cant help with a fire think about it.

Had a house fire. I know all the risks firefighters are up against. From propane explosions, gun shells going off, not to mention running out of air. I have the most respect for these men and woman. Our dog died but people were protected.

It is shameful that our Mayor and Fire Chief ram-rodded this decision through without giving the firefighters a chance to properly prepare their response. Those who voted for these cuts should not have done so without hearing all the facts, including a comprehensive risk assessment. These cuts put my safety, your safety and the safety of the firefighters in jeopardy.

I live close to a the fire station on Bennett Blvd. The fire trucks respond many, many times throughout the day and night. Public safety must always be a priority! These firefighters put their lives at risk each and every day to keep the citizens of our city safe and we need our City Councillors to make decisions that assist the public not put the people who elected them at risk.

I beleive, we can cut from different areas, than our fire fighters. If the Soo is not in turmoil, at city hall, than once again, we are dealing with an issue, that should never been brought up.

Reducing front line fire fighters to save money is like saying, I don't need house insurance because I haven't made a claim in 25 years of paying the premium. It's when you don't have it, that you find you need it the most! Are we going to risk lives to save a few dollars? Yes, we need more EMS staff... find the money for it, but not at the expense of front line fire fighters. Maybe ask the big money earners on the city payroll to take a small reduction.

It is a sad situation when the people that we elected to run our city shows no concern for the people they serve.

Mayor and City Council do your research and due diligence stop making hasty decisions. Health and Safety should be your number one concern for the citizens. Just because you already made a decision on this issue doesn't mean it is the correct one and doesn't mean it can't be reversed.

The taxpayers safety should always be any cities biggest concern and the safety of all its employees too. All emergency personnel should be a priority, fire, police, paramedics, nurses, doctors, water ad sewer roads and any employee that works for the city to keep that city safe. Think of not just today but the future of your city. Remeber our cities are getting older and so is our workforce, so if we don't keep it up now we will be scrambling very soon. We need young and new people to continually keep all the emergencie sectors up to date through the experience of senior staff that will be gone very soon. This is an awful diss service to your community.

Why can't this be done. It's not like 25 % is being taken away right now. It's being done over a period of time. So take this time and do this properly. Do the full assessment of the impact on public safety like you would any other change in our city. Whats the saying, " Safety First."
