These cuts should not happen. We need the fire safety we currently have .Quit playing politics with essential services. Also, good paying jobs will help the Sault much more than tax cuts.

I have seen the devastation first hand of what inadequate staffing of fire departments can do. They have done it here in Sydney, Nova Scotia and we now have reduced service higher taxes and I do believe now home insurence has gone up as well. All the being said I has affected the outcome in several emergency situations in which the public was at risk. So at the end of the day it reduced service and put the public at risk for an increased cost, doesn't make any sense.

Public safety first before politics. Staff cuts don't make sense when fires burn hotter and faster.

If needed, I think other cuts should be done before risking the safety of the people of the Sault.

This is a big concern to me...the city keeps increasing property taxes, adding additional charges for services rendered, PUC had gotten out of control, meters were changed without consent from consumers promising better rates because of smart meters, meanwhile City Hall keeps wanting to cut back on services that use to be included in our taxes. Why would the city want to take such a risk without first consulting with experts in that field before making a final decision.

It is unacceptable to reduce protection of firefighters to the citizens of Sault Ste. Marie. Surely there are other areas where cuts can be made that will not affect our safety. If nothing else City Council needs to look further into this situation prior to making any cuts.

I can't believe that the city is willing to risk life and property on the word of the new chief.

I do not want to pay more for house insurance, nor do I want to watch my home burn while waiting for a full fire crew to arrive.

The Fire Chief is delusional if he thinks a fire truck could be dispatched and get to a fire 12 miles away in 6 minutes. We need all the firefighters we have now.

To cut service. What does this mean for are aging population. Any major disaster will use all the resources. Leaving the individual in need at risk.

Please leave are emergency services alone! They put there lives on the line for us everyday to make that we are serviced safely as possible.

Firefighter and public safety should be the prime concern. City solicitors should be concerned. One tragedy could eat up far more money than they are saving.

I fully support the cause of these wonderful and brave fire fighters. I don't think that any personnel should be cut under any circumstances.

The cutting of 25% of the Sault Ste. Marie Fire fighters is totally unacceptable..This is a dangerous practice and receipe for serious injury or death...

I suggest that you ask the Ward 2 candidates to each give their opinions on this issue, and have it published in the Sault Star, Sault This Week and Soo Today.

This must be reviewed before any decisions are made that could possibly affect peoples lives here in SSM.
