YES PLEASE. Summer in the harbor is great but we really need more stuff for the teenagers to do besides hanging out at the mall or the park.
Totally agree with the others. Even if its only open a few months its worth it to have a space for the community to get together and cool off.
My kids would love this. We spend so much time driving to Tacoma just to swim and it would be so much better to have something right here in town!
Where would it be written that it would only be used 2 to 3 months out of a year? Gig Harbor is in desperate need of family/youth oriented activities. Has been for years! There has not even been a bowling alley since the roof caved in on the old one near Thriftway, what 25 + years ago? Im personally tired of having to travel outside of my town for anything other than a walk on a trail or a very expensive night at the uptown theater. With the bridge toll, its getting increasingly expensive to travel outside our community to do this kind of activity in another city. I say keep the revenue and enjoyment where we live.
Has anyone thought about the fact that it would only be able to be used 2 to 3 months out of the year and THIS may not bring in enough money for the up keep for the rest of the year? Just food for thought! :)

Acey, I moved from Tennessee where we have long HOT summers and due to insurance policies and the school year schedule, the pools are still only open from Memorial Day to Labor Day and still keep up just fine :) There is no public outdoor pool anywhere on this side of the bridge, so revenue would definitely be brought in from surrounding areas such as Olalla, Port Orchard and possibly even Bremerton and Poulsbo if it's a fun enough attraction. Gig Harbor also thrives on tourism in the summer time, so if it was advertised right, we could get business from that. There are also other possibilities to bring in more money such as birthday parties and early morning swimming lessons.
