Yep, if tax payer money goes to that water there should be public access.

It would be fair to have public access for the entire community. The county already owns several areas on the reservoir that might be suitable at minimal cost to the county: the dam, the pumping station off Watermill and the Parking area on Genito. An honor system of payor fees might mitigate the cost.

When the dirt ramp on Woolridge Rd. was closed by the private landowner, I felt like I had lost a friend. I have fished Swift Creek Reservoir since 1981, and that little spot was the only place that I could launch my Jon boat. Why is it that the residents of Woodlake, Brandermill, and the smaller communities surrounding the lake have exclusive rights to it by boat, and we as Chesterfield tax payers don't?!? It makes me sick!! I was really hoping that a public boat ramp was going to be constructed during the Woolridge Rd. widening project, but unfortunately that my hopes were shot down. I guess the money that all Chesterfield tax payers pay, whether your water comes from Swift Creek Reservoir or not, only gives us the right to use the water that comes from it. That is complete nonsense!! We also funded the Carp project to get rid of hydrilla, maintenance on the dam, and every other expense the reservoir requires tax money for. Not to mention, the exclusive private boat ramps in the upscale communities surrounding the lake, it's not just neighborhood dues that contribute to that!! Ok, I'm fuming now, so I'll end my rant here. Thank you to whomever is responsible for this petition, I really hope that turns heads, and opens the eyes of people that can get the ball rolling on a public boat ramp for people like us who depend in one just to go fishing in a lake that we all deserve to go fishing in.

This is a public water source therefore should have public access for all legal taxpayers.

We live on Woolridge and my husband has been fishing here since he was 5 years old. It's called Swift Creek Reservoir and Watershed because it's a public water source. With that said, there should access to the public.
