Keep art free for all to appreciate. Artists do not exhibit your art in a privatised gallery that wants payment for entrance.

Should be free to residents as it is educational and whilst children may be free they cannot go alone.

Defend our national arts heritage from privatisation. Access to culture is a citizenship right.

Museums and Art Galleries should be available to everyone, regardless of their circumstances. They are especially valuable towards the education of children.

The art is all owned by or on behalf of the citizens so why should we have to pay twice to see it. Surely Council Tax is quite sufficient.

Not only are they going from free to charging but to charging an amount well out of the reaches of a lot of families. Utterly disgusting.

Culture should be available to everyone, whatever their personal circumstances.

If Local Authorities( in the North) were not punished by the Tories they could afford to retain their free galleries.

Keep art accessible and stop punishing the poor. End austerity and allow local authorities the money they need to run things properly.

Free access to art is an entitlement and an issue of community health and well being. This charge will inhibit people from visiting the art gallery at all an children will be denied an encounter with the arts.

Do not disenfranchise people with low incomes from the pleasure, and educational benefits of looking at the nation's art collections.

As a professional working in the arts I gained my love of art through visits as a child to many of the UKs wonderful and freely accessible art institutions.

The gallery is charging residents without council approval. The YMT board should resign.

Having visited the beautiful , varied, interesting and thought provoking art gallery and talked with the friendly, knowledgeable staff on a visit to York a year or so ago. I believe asking individuals to pay would prevent many from accessing a similar and vital experience viewing their own local and international cultural heritage.
