I believe the amount reported as proposed entry fee of £7.50 is outrageous. Who can afford to take children to introduce them to art?

A visit to a museum and art gallery is essential education for all. It can enrich the lives of people from every background and should be available to all, especially those without the means to pay.

I think a lot of people would struggle to pay £7.50 if they're struggling to put food on the table, pay their rent etc. Art already excludes the working class. The gallery should be trying to attract more working class people. This fee will deter them. Everyone should have the right to access art, regardless of wealth

I'm scared that these charges will be the death of the gallery. They should charge only for the specialists exhibitions as Tate Modern and Tate Britain do.

I thought we were going through a period of enforced austerity! Now even a trip to the local art gallery becomes unaffordable for many.

I have just paid £3 to renew my library card (which I objected to) on the proviso I got free or reduced admission to various galleries and museums - I will not be going to the Art Gallery if I am to be charged £7.50 - I will join the protest on Saturday! Keep it Free!

These charges will be the death of this gallery. No-one will pay the entry fee as it's far too expensive for a relatively small gallery with few 'big' or famous works in it.

Admission fees ultimately depress the visitor footfall and promotes a culture of poverty of aspiration. Free public access to art benefits us all in the long run.
