Yes London will continue to get lots of money. As the capital they will always be looked after first.

As residents we put up with lots of disruption because of the amount of tourism we have. There is no need for this, especially when these costs would be more than what is paid in other cities!!

No. The refurb was done with 100% privately raised money via sponsorship and contributions. Again; you've not read the information properly. *sigh*

Keep York art gallery free for all.
Put a donation box in the entrance/exit for those who choose to donate something.

Art should be available to all regardless of status or income and not exclusively open to the super rich. The introduction of entrance charges is a regressive and Philistine step. Please reconsider decision.

The residents of York picking up the bill again. Due to the councils ineptitude. Art Galleries and Museums should be free, especially to the young.

I understand you have refurbed it and was very expensive but that was your choice to do and now you expect york residents to pay for your decisions my daughter so wants to go to the gallery and has waited along time for it to be open again and now with your rediculas costs she cant go.
It always has been free and should remain free.
Ask for a donation people will help.
I will not be stepping in there until you stop all payments for admissions to york residents.

Cuts everywhere I appreciate but there should be a substantially reduced rate for residents at the least. Say £3. Max £5 for tourists. Not even the York card is free and only lasts for a year. Children under 16 and students in full time education should be free.

This is disgraceful! Many of the art galleries in London are free, why can't we continue to do this in york? Once again locals suffer!

Art should be free for all to view. Charging restricts those unable to pay but wanting to enlighten themselves.

Please re think the charge. Not only will York residents not visit the gallery but visitors to our lovely city will also be detected by the prohibitive charge. As previous comments have suggested if there are special exhibitions a small charge of five pounds with concessions for elderly and people on benefits etc. Make it free for children which will encourage families, the next generation!. I feel if this is not re visited by the trustees/managers the football will only decrease or stop and that would be a crying shame.

As a local, when people visit and I show them round town it's the free attractions I take them to. It would be a shame if the Gallery (and other attractions) add themselves to the don't bother list.

If a charge must be made, it should be a small, nominal fee. £7.50 is FAR too high and has put a lot of people of from attending to see the refurbishment let alone the exhibitions, i know, because it's stopped me from going. I refuse to pay this much to see something which should be free, especially given we already pay council tax.

How dare you call us idiots! This is just blocking the accessibility of culture for everyone and thus polarising the opportunities of those with less wealth. It is those who are able to afford such indulgences who act elitist and superior such as yourself. Many are not averse to a smaller admission fee.
