Whereas the inside passage of British Columbia is an environmentally sensitive wilderness;
And whereas oil tankers travelling in these waters pose a great threat of environmental catastrophe, with devastating effects on fishing, tourism, and the livelihood of First Nations;
And whereas the Government of Canada is considering allowing the Northgate pipeline and its associated oil tankers;
Therefore we petition the Government of Canada to prohibit oil tankers in the inside passge of British Columbia and reject the Northgate pipeline project.

Keep our coast clean. One spill is all it takes to ruin everything for good and it is not worth the risk for a few bucks.

The BC coast is way too fragile for this kind of traffic. Think about the salmon runs and the local communities first for once.
