This petition is a protest against how mental health situations have been handled by certain schools and the lack of communication between students and staff about decisions made concerning the student. It's time for schools to start dealing with these situations more sensitively and do what's best for the student, not the school's reputation. Many schools seem to think it best to simply ban students with mental health issues from trips and treat them as though they are being punished, instead of supporting them and getting them the help they need. We want to get our voices heard, so please take a few minutes of your time to get involved and make a difference.

Seeing this grow so quickly reminds me exactly why I started this fight after what happened to my brother. It feels like people are finally waking up to the reality that a student's wellbeing should always come before a school's image.

Seeing the count climb toward one hundred reminds me of the isolation my own brother felt when his school chose policy over his well-being. We need to push past this milestone before meeting with the administration so they cannot ignore the reality of how these students are being pushed aside.

I literally got bullied into homeschooling. I told a lot of teachers and all of my schools principles, who did nothing. In general, my old public school treated me horribly and caused so many of my problems to get worse.

I think this is a brilliant idea. Ive never told a teacher. I tried to over email but she said she needed to know my name and when i said i wouldnt say it she said that i had ti call a help line. Like exuse me but if i felt more safe telling you, you shouldnt say that

School is suppose to be a place where children feel safe and secure. Unfortunately in most cases its the exact opposite. Making a child present a project even if he or she says that they can not is totally unacceptable.

Mental issues isn't some game. It needs to be taken seriously. Just because we are teenagers does not mean it will eventually pass or that it's hormones. It's an actual problem so treat it with care as well as respect.

It's about time someone did something about this. I was sent home from school after opening up to a member of staff, even though I told them being at home was what made unhappy and put me on edge. This needs to be dealt with asap.

I think it's great so many people are getting involved in this because it is so important and affects so many people and I think sometimes schools can put so much pressure on students that they can be the ones causing mental health issues so need to look out for their students more

i think all mental illnesses should be taken seriously & talked about more often within schools so people are aware of all types of illnesses, not just physical illnesses.
