The General Assembly finally backed down and restored the protected status of our retirement benefits. It is a massive relief to see them stop raiding the pensions we earned after years of service. We forced them to keep their promise but stay ready because we are watching every move they …

Until a recent Kentucky Supreme Court decision (2007), Kentucky Teacher Retirement Benefits have been protected as non-marital assets since 1938. Kentucky public school teachers are required to pay into the pension plan. We have no alternative. It is our "social security". Oddly Federal Social Security benefits are protected from being taken by Federal Law. Since this decision has been rendered, the Kentucky General Assembly has not made an effort to make the needed changes to legislation to again make teacher retirement a protected asset. We have participated in the belief we would be taken care of at the end of our professional careers. This is a promise made by the Commonwealth as a condition of employment that has been broken. Please sign this petition to support a change in current legislation to again provide teacher retirement benefits protected status. Let your legislator know you support teachers by signing.

The Kentucky General Assembly continues to ignore the broken promise they made to our educators while we work for a retirement security that is currently at risk. Their silence is a calculated insult to every teacher who paid into this system under the guarantee of protection. We are not letting them sweep this betrayal under the rug.

This momentum proves that Kentucky teachers are fed up with the General Assembly ignoring our broken promises. Legislative cowards in Frankfort need to stop hiding and finally restore the protected status of our retirement benefits.

My mom spent 30 years in the classroom and deserves every cent she worked for. Stop playing games with their futures.

Support out teachers. They are the backbone of this state and this is just another slap in the face to them.

Ridiculous that they have to fight for this. It was a promise made and it should be kept.

THIS IS UNFAIR. Teachers put their time in and expected that money to be there later. Do the right thing ky

Keep your hands off the pension! These folks do the hardest work and deal with so much for so little pay. Protect them
