Protect Kentucky Grandparents’ Rights
I am a Kentucky grandmother, and I am asking for your help.
I am the proud Mamaw of two beautiful granddaughters. I love these girls more than words can express. Being their grandmother is one of the greatest blessings of my life.
Unfortunately, my ability to see my granddaughters has repeatedly been disrupted by conflict between adults. Most recently, I went approximately six weeks without being able to see them.
I am asking Kentucky lawmakers to strengthen grandparent-visitation protections so that children who have safe, loving, established relationships with their grandparents have a meaningful way to preserve those relationships.
This is not about taking away a parent’s rights.
It is about recognizing that children can benefit tremendously from loving grandparents who provide support, stability, family history, memories, and unconditional love.
When a grandparent is suddenly removed from a child’s life, the child loses something too.
Kentucky lawmakers considered Senate Bill 281 during the 2026 legislative session. The bill addressed grandparent visitation and passed the Kentucky Senate unanimously before being recommitted in the House.
I am asking our legislators to continue this work and bring meaningful grandparent-visitation legislation back to the General Assembly.
Please sign this petition if you believe:
• Children deserve the opportunity to maintain healthy relationships with loving grandparents.
• Grandparents should have a meaningful legal avenue to seek visitation when appropriate.
• Parents’ rights should be respected while also considering the child’s relationship with a grandparent.
• Adult disagreements should not automatically result in children losing loving grandparents.
• Kentucky needs clear and fair standards for grandparent visitation.

I’m signing because I think that Grand Parents should have right too just like the non custodial parent. They should get visitation rights too because if the non custodial parent loses their rights why should the grandparents lose theirs because of something stupid the parents done. I think grandparents right should be handled just like the non custodial parents rights.
Because as a grandparent I can’t imagine ever not being able to see my grandchild. But the possibility exists if something would happen. You see it all around you and the world today. Children need good Christian grandparents, I can still remember my Mamaw’s sweet voice praying for me and picking me up every Sunday and taking me to church until my parents got saved. ❤️🙏🙌🏻 There’s so much hate in the world- Let the babies have the love of their grandparents!!!
Grandparents’ rights are important because children can form deep, meaningful bonds with their grandparents that provide love, stability, guidance, and a connection to their family history. When that relationship is healthy and safe, family conflict shouldn’t automatically cause a child to lose someone who has been a consistent and important part of their life.
Grandparents that have been an integral part of children’s life since birth, that have been completely cut out of said lives, is as important for children as the grandparents.
In Kentucky .. they give grandparents no rights!! If it wasn’t for my mamaw helping my mom … I don’t know where I’d be or who I would have turned out to be!!
Totally agree…EVERY Grandparent has the right to see and spend time with their grandchildren no matter the circumstances of the parents.

I am extremely close with my grandchildren and both Myself and them would be devastated if our relationship was broken because of conflict between there parents.
