Cars driving way too fast all the time. People treat it like a highway. Somone is going to get killed. I mean, someone else is going to get killed

I read every comment on this petition. All of them.
I am legally blind and I cross this road with a white cane. In 17 years I have been hit or nearly hit seven times, twice here. But none of the people struck on Departure Bay Road were blind. They were teens and children in marked crosswalks, and a man in his 70s standing beside his own car. Raised crosswalks and one consistent 30 zone would slow the cars and quiet the nights at the same time. Build the road so none of us has to be perfect.

I am signing this in memory of the man struck and killed on Departure Bay Road a few days ago now. The safety of pedestrians and residents in this area should be paramount for the city. Let us pay our respects and in his memory demand that improvements be made for people living and visiting this popular area.

The noise is one thing, but the speeding is gonna get someone killed. Oh wait it already has. Plus several people injured.
FWIW I was in a car accident when I was very little and I flew through the windshield. My father was killed in a car accident. So was one of my spouses.
Every night dozens of cars are breaking the law to an extreme. That simple fact alone should warrant more patrolling along Departure/Hammond Bay roads.

I grew up in Departure Bay. It was bad then and very bad now. I would love to see some serious consideration to how this beautiful place could become a calm, safe and enjoyable area.

Sadly, it seems these traffics calming systems are the only way to ensure people do not get injured or killed.

Departure Bay rd runs beside a park. The road should be 30km as in other park zones. With our population growing rapidly, this road will only get more busy and more people will get hurt.
