Throughout America there are shelters for animals who have been rescued off of the streets or given up by previous owners. This a place where people can come and pick and choose which animal they like best and they think would be a great fit for their home. Once chosen, after the necessary paperwork and treatments, these animals are sent to what we hope to be a loving new home but what happens to the animals that are not chosen? What happens to the unwanted few? If an animal isn't chosen and they have timed out at the shelter they are put down. Animals that are seen as not good enough by the majority of the population after a certain amount of time are killed. This is completely immoral and a change needs to be sparked in this environment. Although I appreciate these shelters rescuing these animals and providing for them for that allotted amount of time I do believe a change in the rules at these shelters needs to be effective immediately. This petition is for these shelters to extend the time these animals have at the shelter. This will give the animals time to possibly meet someone who believes their life is worth saving and to find them a new home.
