Disclosure is the right thing to do.

Disclosing this new development’s proximity to the airport and requiring acknowledgement of each buyer is good for all involved. It informs home buyers making an investment in their home and protects the airport in the long run by ensuring new homeowners are not surprised and displeased by their home’s proximity to the airport. The airport is a key part of the area infrastructure for transit and emergency access.

While I do not plan to continue flying much longer, I feel it is still very important to maintain the airport viable. Back around 1990 there was widespread discontent by new residents of the Adelma Beach area complaining of airport noise, and requesting that all takeoffs and landings be done over Port Hadlock if possible. I can envision the same thing happening in the future with residents of this development. The airport is a valuable asset to the community for transportation and business. Potential residents of this development must absolutely show they are aware they are within the airport noise footprint, which is not going away.

Would it be possible to get an extension of the overlay?

Airports are an extremely valuable asset to our country. We do not need fewer airports. We in fact need the ones we have and more. The cost and difficulty to recreate or create a new airport today make this almost an impossible task. Please save this valuable asset.

I live just above the golf course off Cape George. As a pilot I enjoy the airport activity over my home. However a number of my neighbors do not. The perspective buyer in this development need to acknowledge the airport and flight pattern. None of this, “I didn’t know it was there,” after the fact. That’s on the developers.

I am a pilot, and I see nothing wrong with “nudging” potential home buyers to acknowledge the existence of/potential for occasional noise from an established airport operating near their new home.

The vitality and protection of the critical Jefferson County Airport is many times more critical than the addition of a few high-dollar golf course homes. Homes on final and departure corridor for a well established airport are not compatible. Do your job as planners and do not approve this proposal.

Please do whatever it takes to preserve Jefferson County Airport. Buyers must be informed, and sign that they agree that they are aware of, and support all air traffic from Jefferson County Airport.

Save JeffCo Airport

The Port Townsend Aero Museum, a non-profit publicly owned organization, was established at the Jefferson County Airport twenty-one years ago. In that time the aero museum has served our local community by helping over 400 teenagers become responsible young adults through our youth education and flight programs. Over the years, our supporters have donated millions of dollars to help build our facility and our program into what it is today. It is vitally important that all future homeowners within the impacted areas surrounding the Jefferson County Airport are made fully aware of what they might expect in terms of negative impact as a result of local air traffic. Furthermore, property sales surrounding airport property should include a document in the purchase transaction paperwork stating the buyer was made aware of the proximity of the airport and the possible annoyances, including signatures by the seller and the buyer. All that being said, these same new homebuyers should be enlightened to the wonderful benefits the Jefferson County Airport provides on a daily basis to the local residents, including: The Spruce Goose, perhaps the best restaurant in the entire county; Air transportation to the greater Puget Sound area; Emergency medical transportation services; Disaster relief should we experience a catastrophic Puget Sound event; Community event gatherings; And lastly, the Port Townsend Aero Museum with it's world class collection of aircraft, artwork, and the amazing teenager volunteers who make it all possible.

Hangar B15. Aviation infrastructure is vital to large and small communities. Noise sensitive areas and procedures exist throughout the world to ensure harmony. Unreasonable or excessive demands on aviators are not conducive to the safety, enjoyment or benefit/prestige that aviation brings to a local area. I hope that individual homeowners realize that they are not the driving factor in local harmonious aircraft operations, especially after making the conscientious choice to build a dwelling within 5 miles of an established aerodrome.

I support this measure. I fly out of Sequim and visit JCIA and the goose. Many arrivals are straight in (traffic permitting) on 9

I no longer live in the area but for almost 10 years I was a frequent flyer to Jefferson Co Airport. I still fly up to visit family and friends in the area and 0S9 is always on my list of airports to visit. I strongly agree with the seller’s disclosure to all buyers of said property.

All right potential home owners need to know of the airport's existing flight pattern.

Please be forthcoming in disclosure to future property owners that Jefferson County International Airport is vital to our community. It provides emergency evacuations and air service to many people. The housing development is directly off the end of the runway 27, with take off and landing to the west. There will be aircraft noise. Prospective clients need to know this and full disclosure is imperative. Our airport is important and advocates for the airport want people to know ahead of time rather than buying a piece of property to find out later that it is in the incoming and outgoing aircraft pattern.
