As you know this massice heat will continue to soar up in the coming weeks and it's not good for us and our beloved "animals". Humans can get skin cancer with excessive heat, dehydration, heat exhaustion, diziness, headaches amongst others but the point is here, we can protect ourselve,. horses not! they cannot care for themselves.
horses only takes 17 minutes of moderate intensity exercise in hot, humid weather to raise a horse's temperature to dangerous levels. That's three to 10 times faster than in humans. Horses feel the heat much worse than we do."
And the effects can be serious. If a horse's body temperature shoots up from the normal 37 to 38 C to 41 C, temperatures within working muscles may be as high as 43 C, a temperature at which proteins in muscle begin to denature (cook). Horses suffering excessive heat stress may experience hypotension, colic and renal failure. now can you imagine what the horses down at valletta feel? horses heat up to 3 times more than us humans!! PLEASE ENFORCE THE LAW on those horse owners that do not put the horses in the designated shades and if there isn't enough shades ( wich i feel there isn't ) more shades should be brought up, and for those cars that take up the place of the horses heavy fines should be enforced irrespective if it's a public holiday or a quiet hour. Also a weight limit should be set up. Meeting with Animal Welfare director should be made to discuss these point and any other matters that arise.
PLEASE PROTECT THEM LIKE YOU WOULD PROTECT YOUR CHILDREN.

The heat in the summer is too much for horses to bear, especially given the lack of shade available to them. Surely as a nation we should show them that we treat animals with dignity.
I've seen these horses working in the Spring when the temperatures were far lower, and still they struggled with the inclines and uneven surfaces. When not working, they were still out in the glaring heat with no shelter.
this is animal cruelty & must stop. There should also be certain times of the day where horses shouldn't be out carrying people

This is madness ..In 2015 in all this traffic and we still have karozzini on the road .. This is abuse on the poor horses .. when will someone have the balls to take action !!
I think it is extremely cruel and hope you can end this treatment of them.

I am sick of seeing horses in the sun and overloaded with obese tourists . Shameful. Do the owners love their horses ?
