In Canada and the remainder of North America, there once roamed thousands of wild horses, and today with limited laws in the United States - much of the existing wild horse herds have become targets of capture for the slaughterhouse, commercialized uses such as rodeos and racing. In Canada, a total of 8000 wild free roaming horses once roamed the entirety of the nation's landscape - yet today, due to similar legal circumstances and little habitat protection - we are witnessing the near extinction of wild horses.

Many horses, domesticated from either breeding or capture from wild herds are of similar genetic and behavioral characteristics to that of their wild cousins and with terrible tragedies witnessed during this year's Calgary Stampede of more than two horses being killed, resulting from injuries sustained from barbaric racing practices, things need change!

200 years ago was the last time Ontario has seen a wild roaming horse herd - as these where captured for three purposes - domestication, slaughter or racing. We have not taken any action to reintroduce the species to their native ecosystems and give them both psychosocial and ecological piece of mind.

Please sign this petition and help stop the enslavement of Canada's horses and lets make our statement known to the federal government and provincial governments of Ontario and the other provinces where they actually remain - horses want the right to be free and the right to roam free. They want this without being openly persecuted for capture or instantly being rounded up for auction, slaughter or domestication purposes. These majestic beings deserve better treatment and deserve to be recognized as the natural members of the ecosystem they are, not an introduced invasive species.

Please sign and help support our campaign to protect our horses. You can also help support advocacy for horses and their protection by helping this campaign to create the first naturalized herd of horses in Ontario: http://www.gofundme.com/letthembefreeUE . Thank You For Taking The Time To Speak Out on behalf of the horses.

Its honestly heartbreaking what happens at the Stampede. Those horses dont have a choice in any of this. Stop the slaughter now.

Cant believe this is still happening in 2016. Animals are not ours to treat like property.

LEAVE THEM ALONE. They deserve to be out in the wild where they belong not in some arena being forced to run.

The majority of people in North America would like to see protection for wild horses.

Why can we not follow the rest of the world in protecting our animals??? Are our lawyers that uncaring that they cannot get involved?
