We, the undersigned residents of Mount Pearl, call on Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada to reject the application made by Eastlink to erect a high communications tower at 760 Topsail Road, Mount Pearl, NL.
This tower does NOT meet Mount Pearl City zoning regulations. These zoning regulations were put in place by the City to uphold a certain standard in residential areas. The construction of this tower, in this location, will completely defeat the purpose of the City’s regulations.
This communication tower is NOT essential to the provision of cellular service in this area. Eastlink states that this is their only option, this is NOT true. Other established cell phone service providers have excellent coverage and service in this area, proving that this location is NOT essential to the Eastlink network.
This location is directly in the backyard of a residential neighbourhood. This tower will negatively impact the beautiful landscape and have many adverse effects on all the residents, many of whom have young children, in this area. As well, it is in very close proximity of a Primary/Elementary school, a largely visited Church and is an area that is very busy with many residents of the neighbourhood, including children.

I have been spending my evenings answering messages from neighbors who are worried about their children playing in the shadow of this proposed tower. The silence from Eastlink remains deafening while we continue to gather documentation on why this site is entirely unnecessary for our community.

Seeing this kind of momentum confirms that I am not the only one deeply worried about the safety of our children near the site. This energy gives me the strength to keep fighting until the city realizes this tower has no place in our backyard.

Going to ruin a lovely neighbourhood and the view when looking out our window.
Thank you for your comment. Adverse effects could mean many things. For example, negative impact on property values, an area in which our children play being partially taken by such a construction, an area through which many people pass to access walking trails being negatively affected by this tower, etc. No fear mongering was intended with this petition.
Please don't do this to the residents of this neighbourhood. They don't want it - don't force it.
I don't want a cell tower erected in my neighbourhood because of health, safety, aesthetic, and overall quality of life concerns.
As a resident of Branscombes Pond and Block Captain of the Neighborhood Watch in the area, I am fully aware of most of the residents take on this.... we just don't want it in our backyards! There are several less populated areas that appear to be equivalent to this location but, for some reason (possibly cost) Eastlink is absolutely steadfast in their reluctance to even consider another site. Someone, hopefully Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada, will be the ones to put our residents first. Thank you for your time and Happy Holidays!

This cellular tower backs on my property line. Our neighbourhood is subject to disturbance from kids "drifting" in this parking lot & by an ill-conceived extensions the Team Gushue Highway the Dance at 5;30, right? Eat at 5 or earlier?er Ring Road to Topsail Road. This tower adds insult to injury. Please stop it before our property values become further degraded, needlessly.
