The PROMISE Scholarship, created in 2002, serves the purpose of helping West Virginia students affordably attend college in the state. Over the past decade, it has ultimately raised the average GPA and ACT scores of students within West Virginia high schools. Although it has raised the number of students that stay in-state after high school, it no longer pays for the full tuition of students. This decrease in funding has also been met with an increase in standards.
By signing this petition, you support returning the PROMISE Scholarship award to cover once again the full tuition at institutions defined by WV H.B. 2131, §18C-7-3. This also states that you support maintaining the current requirements to earn the scholarship.
Please sign today to return the PROMISE Scholarship to its original goal of paying the tuition of in-state students to stay in the beautiful state of West Virginia. Signing this will urge our legislators to protect and increase, when necessary, the funds for the PROMISE Scholarship.
Please contact your West Virginia representatives and those in the House and Senate Education Committees about protecting the PROMISE that they gave to our present and future students in West Virginia back in 2002.
The momentum is real. Our legislators are definitely starting to take notice.

My son is working so hard to keep his grades up just to get a fraction of what was promised. It is not fair to keep moving the goalposts on these kids.

This scholarship is the only reason I can even consider college. Prices go up but the help goes down. Please fix this.
