UPDATE: Not only was our mission accomplished, The superintendent's reconfiguration plan passed with a 3-2 vote at the special call school board meeting on April 4. Your efforts and advocacy paid off. We chose progress over failure. Our message of "doing nothing is not an option" was heard not only by the Superintendent but the School Board as well. Thank each of you for all your support.

UPDATE: Our mission was accomplished! Although Superintendent Milton did not put a plan for reconfiguration on the school board agenda for the March 28th, He did state in the meeting that he would be recommending a plan for reconfiguration at a special call school board meeting on April 4. The school board members will have an opportunity to vote on his proposal. Keep signing and showing support! The comments are compelling.

Superintendent Milton abruptly pulled the plans for reconfiguration of Gadsden County Schools. It came as a total surprise. However, we would like the superintendent to know that we support a plan for reconfiguration and DOING NOTHING IS NOT AN OPTION!
OUR CHILDREN DESERVE BETTER!!!
At this present time, there are not enough students enrolled in our schools to fund the operational cost of the thirteen (13) sites in which we currently manage. Lack of funding presents problems with maintaining infrastructures; recruiting and retaining highly qualified teachers and support staff; and ensuring that schools are provided with all of the resources needed to develop well-rounded students.
The Superintendent is commended for his BOLD steps in leading this district toward change for progress. WE NEED YOUR HELP! Let's send a message to the Gadsden County School Board that the stakeholders welcome change.

I really thought this might just fizzle out but the momentum is actually wild right now and I keep finding myself just staring at the screen in disbelief. It feels like people are finally waking up to the fact that we cannot just sit around while our schools suffer because honestly the energy you all brought to this has completely changed the game.

Something has to be done because the children of Gadsden County need a better education. If board and community members don't like this plan then they should help find a better solution to this county's problems. A solution has to be found because Gadsden is failing its students.
Mr. Milton, as Superintendent, you have the right to request changes for this district. Even a small change will benefit the district such as Gretna Elementary emerge with Greensboro Elementary and St. John Elementary emerge with George W. Munroe Elementary. The distance for the emerge would be less than ten miles. Several students from Gretna attend the schools on the West side of the district.
Something must be done. I liked your plan I heard at Shanks Middle School. I did not appreciate Mr. Frost's comments. It was not my fault if parents did not come. I am a tax payer!
I've thought combining the schools was a good idea since 1999. I've suggested it to my supervisors verbally and in writing during staff meetings, individual meetings and my annual evaluations(when they occurred). I will continue to pray for positive change.
My house is $50,000 under because of the poor school district. The quality of a community is its schools. Families and highly skilled staff are leaving because of the lack of in the school district. I moved to Gadsden county to make a difference, but without a vision - the school district will perish, so will students and families continue to leave the school district. I am ready to sale my house and also leave.

Supt. Roger Milton, I was THERE - with you, at the final "Workshop" at CPA. I was stunned at the multiple and POORLY planned/explained "Alternatives", while claiming YOURS was poorly planned and explained!! NOT TRUE!! Keep up your great work!!!
