Normal politicians who do not care what goes on with the Prison Service or any other Public services, Their only interests lie with lining their backers and their own pockets, they all come out with sympathy statements but really do not give a F

When HMP Garth opened in 1988, its Governor Ian Boon said, "Prison Officers are a necessary evil". Prison Officers are now an expensive luxury that tax dodgers don't want to contribute to but want the service they provide

I agree with all the comments made, feel so undervalued if only the public knew what goes on.

cutting staffing levels trying too run prisons on the cheap wont work the quicker the Government wakeup to this fact the better also the discipline in prisons is ajoke whats needed is acommplete overhaul and get rid of the pc lot whohave made the prison system as low as it is until the prison officers are left toget on the job as it should be done things we only get wores and officers are going to die god forbid all because the Government wants tosave money and wont listen too the staff that are doing the jobif the Government thinks the job of a PRISON OFFICER is an easy try for 6 months they'll soon see what the staff have togo through then they may have change of attitude and make the changes that are urgently needed

Safety is paramount, yet staff levels are decreasing. What will it take to understand the risks.

after almost 30 years of service, I just HAD to get out.... ask yourself why? You cannot run prisons for profit. Money could be saved in so many other ways, without having to cut staff. Ask the people on the shop floor where savings can be made, not the SMT.

I work in these conditions every day, the service has been decimated by cuts and staff safety ignored, the worst the service has been in 28 years I have worked there.

Stop the cuts....austerity is a myth....Great Britains credit is worth approx 23 trillion.....USA owe 13 trillion in debt.....we are still a wealthy country if we take it back from the corrupt corporate interests that have infiltrated it.

As I have always stated when I was in the service we were dealing with people "not tins of baked beans" this applies to the loyal staff of H M Prison Servicewho have been devalued by this appalling Government and the previous one before them, "they will reap what they so" but of course "they won't pay the price" the staff will

I used to work for prison service until they shut us down, we as a family have had to make several changes to our life because of this meaning longer travelling hours having so had to buy a new car as money being claimed did not cover fuel. Also the fact that prison officers are on landings on there own is ridiculous, we have all heard about alarm bells not being answered as there are no available staff. When will it stop when people get killed! !
