Prioritize SCAD Upperclassmen in Housing

There should be a commitment to the students who have chosen SCAD and invested in SCAD over the desire for more money and admitting more students than you have room for. Waiting until they are far into their degree to pull a third of their scholarship because YOU don’t have room is irresponsible and cruel.

Rising seniors should absolutely have priority in housing, it is unfair to change the rules for seniors because SCAD allowed over admittance without adequate housing. At the very least, SCAD should give students their FULL scholarship in order to live off campus

Stop over admitting freshman, and care about the students already attending your school

Juniors and Seniors in good standing should have priority in housing.

I didn’t go into debt that I’ll likely never get out of for this.

Or stop taking away 30% of the scholarships when kids live off campus.

Don’t forget about the upper class men, the students who have dedicated themselves to their work and rely on housing. Cap how many people you accept. Require portfolios.

This is just unfair - You should be focusing on building more dorms if a lack of space is really that big of an issue. Kicking out those who have been here before is literally barbaric.

Very upset parent of a current Junior -rising Senior. The class of 2026 has hung in there though three years of room stress and now this?? They have suffered enough and have earned the right to continue the current housing practice of allowing them to stay in their current room and/or be in the first to select rooms. This will impact them on every level from mental health and happiness to financial strain.

over admittance has caused tons of problems even tho i live off campus- parking, transport and housing process is a nightmare

It’s unfair to think I could lose thousands of dollars worth of scholarship money and then be forced to pay thousands more just to live off campus.

Being a class of 2026 student has been stressful every year around housing registration and it’s like every time there’s always some new slip up or crazy policy scad implements that makes it to where I am not Guaranteed housing. Even though I work hard, and I pay thousands of dollars every year it is shown time and time again that my status as an upperclassman is used against me as Scad knows I will try my best to stay at scad while also submitting to unfair treatment.

This choice negatively affects a massive portion of the student population, scholarship kids, international students, and many more. SCAD do better

The new housing plan is completely unacceptable, frankly a disservice to all the upperclassmen that heavily rely on housing to attend SCAD. The over admission of students Post-Covid, and the lack of mandatory portfolios in the application process has put stress on the system. Please consider that with tuition prices rising, many students cannot afford to go off campus- especially since scholarships are cut by 30% if a student is not in SCAD housing. Please remember that we’re still here, and that we matter too.

The seniors and juniors here deserve boarding and housing from SCAD and should have priority over Freshmen.

Shameless display of greed by the school. This might be the final nail in the coffin. And that’s saying a lot, given that I was greeted by an unmaintained, cockroach infested, flooded, absolute health hazard of a dorm at the beginning of my senior year. Did I mention that there was cockroach feces blanketing every surface? All for the bargain price of $1400 a month. We never went public about it, but we documented everything. I regret giving SCAD a cent, and if this goes through, I’ll be sure that everyone I meet knows why they should avoid sending their kids.

They cannot expect to to throw us out of the dorms and take away our scholarships without getting push back. It's ridiculous!
