Prioritize SCAD Upperclassmen in Housing

Scad needs to stop tying scholarship money to housing if they’re not going to offer housing for all kids.

Seniors already deal with deadlines and senior projects. They don't need the added pressure of fighting for housing. They are moving in to workforce before anyone else and need all the support they can get to assist them, not hinder them.

Current scad senior- support our upperclassmen!

If I get waitlisted again this year I’m gonna become a problem for SCAD.

I am a rising senior and I am angry.

I find it very strange they changed the housing policy. Seniors should have priority and we should be able to keep our current housing options the same.

this decision made by SCAD is blatantly greedy and will be detrimental to many upperclassman

an absolutely outrageous decision that speaks to the lack of care and respect to the students they claim to support. Not simply an issue of when people get housed, but complete disregard for the amount of students they've allowed to attend versus the facilities (dorms, classes, etc) that they have.

Absolutely disgusted and appalled that scad thinks these decisions are ok.

We are more than disappointed in SCAD for this outrageous decision, I will warn everyone I know this school is continually false advertising to parents and money grabbing

one of the biggest reasons I had to stop attending this school,I wasn’t able to find housing due to the over acceptance of new freshman and also would of lost the scholarship I had, do better, SCAD

It is so insane that this is thing we have to petition against, like what comically evil villain decided this was a good idea.

It's not merely an issue of who gets housing first. The issue is that BOTH under and upperclassmen should have access to housing, but SCAD's organizational skills have left them without supply to meet the demand. SCAD, ultimately, has full control over demand for housing, as they have the exclusive right to deny or accept new students. If you don't have the space available for the amount of people you're accepting, then you shouldn't be accepting them. SCAD has heavily gentrified an entire community, sent housing prices soaring for local Savannah residents, and yet they still fail to meet the basic needs of their own students. Prioritizing sophomores speaks to a lack of respect for the people whose time and money are already invested here, and a lack of concern for the communities they have already hurt.

Class of ‘26. I have only ever had scraps of housing because of how they keep changing the rules. Thought I wasn’t going to have housing in sophomore until scad had to rent Ann st. I was forced into one of the worst rooms in O house this year because that was all that was left when my registration time arrived. I do not pay an unholy amount of money to be treated like this

This is among scad's worst and most transparently money grabbing choices. That not as many freshmen dropped out as you thought is hardly the fault of current students

Let Juniors and Seniors keep their scholarships if they are forced to move off campus! It is only fair.

What happens to students who rely on their scholarships to stay at scad? If they're forced off campus and lose a large chunk of scholarship in doing so, much of scads poorer students cannot afford to be here without them. It is not upperclassmen's fault that scad continues to admit more students than it has housing for.

Prioritize us!

If SCAD is committed to following through with this policy, then change the policy of rescinding scholarships if students do not live on campus. Many of the students affected by this policy are not choosing to live off campus. They're being forced to do this. Why should they be punished and have their scholarships taken away? Part of our bee choosing SCAD was because of the scholarships offered. Aren't these scholarships merit and need based? They still have the merit and need, especially having made it to junior and senior year at SCAD.
