Prioritize SCAD Upperclassmen in Housing

Trying to get housing last year as a freshman/ early sophomore was a nightmare. It wasn’t our fault either. Scad keeps over accepting students and instead of fixing the problem they just make the student life worse. Even as a freshman/sophmore I agreed with the way things were. Upperclassman got the best housing it made sense but, now it just seems like now that we are half way through our degree they think we won’t drop out so no matter if they kick us off campus they assume we will still pay the money to go in order to finish our degree. PRIORITIZE US.

I vigorously object to this proposed housing policy. Juniors and seniors have loyally pledged their time and funds to SCAD over their 2-3 years and should be rewarded with first priority. Common sense should dictate that juniors and seniors, with tenure and seniority, have priority to secure housing throughout the full duration of their time at SCAD until graduation. SCAD has a responsibility to make accommodations for freshmen and rising sophomores without forcing juniors and seniors out of the housing system.

So many scholarships are tied to housing, meaning many people can't afford to go here if they get kicked out. And everyone moving off campus effectively raises rent and cost of living as well.. There was already a housing crisis last year, this upcoming year’s will only be worse.

This is so greedy and embarrassing for SCAD. I hope they fix this soon

As a member of ‘26 who was forced off campus last year, do not do this to more of my peers. I can barely afford it, and I am sure a lot of my peers share a similar sentiment

This is absolutely crazy. They really want seniors to be homeless.

This is very ridiculous! It just goes to show that SCAD is a scam that doesn’t give a damn about their students. Especially ones who have already invested so much in their education at this school.

Let the upperclassmen have housing you narcs.

Its ridiculous what scad higherups think they can get away with and cover up that it's for the "good of community". They are forcing seniors off campus because they know seniors are less likely to leave since they have significant financial commitment to this college. The school wont admit it has a serious over admittance policy so they make life extremely difficult for those they feel they can without jeopardizing their dime.

SCAD cannot have it both ways. If they want students living on campus, they need to have sufficient on-campus housing or limit their admissions. If they don’t want to limit the amount of students they accept, they cannot tie scholarships to housing. Students who are forced to live off campus due to lack of on-campus housing availability should not be penalized by losing a portion of their scholarship.

This is screwing over the juniors

As a university, please strive to do better for the people already attending, rather than seeing how many more people you can cram into your academic body. Savannah will not give you any new buildings due to the school's size and dominance; please don't ruin the scad name and experience even more by burning the people actively trying to participate here.

Alum here. SCAD has always favored the outrageous amount of underclassmen they bring in. They need to limit the amount of students they accept and give some real attention and resources to the people that already have years of hard work put into the school. Telling people to just go get apartments is not only flippant, but ignorant to just how competitive apartments are in Sav (in my experience). I lived off campus for most of my time there; even years before this I was fighting tooth and nail to even preview apartments. Enough with the greed! Not only does this throw upperclassmen to the wolves, but makes all the sophomores feel like they're the problem.

I love this school. Please don't make me leave it
