Prioritize SCAD Upperclassmen in Housing

Priority should go to non-graduate students, seniority down. The school needs more undergrad housing period.

My bee will be a senior next year. I’m a single mom and can only afford for my bee to live on campus. The thought of her not having on campus housing for her final year is disheartening. I currently work in higher education and I know from experience that graduation rates are very important. Displacing graduating seniors is not a smart move. I hope this decision will be reviewed and that graduating seniors will be prioritized in the housing selection process.

As a senior graduating this year, I am fortunate to not have this apply to me. But this relief is something that should not be felt in the first place had SCAD valued its upperclassman!!

incredibly disrespectful to the upperclassmen who have worked hard to stay at this school, especially because so many have their scholarships tied to living On-Campus. as someone who has had their housing in jeopardy due to last year’s housing crisis, i can’t do that again because that experience alone took so many years off my lifespan. i can’t believe i’m going into this much debt just to be forced to face Savannah’s terrifyingly expensive downtown housing market (which SCAD makes worse with every passing year)

Don’t make me give up on my dreams.

It’s nice that SCAD is a great school but you could have seen this coming and planned ahead. The housing situation is going to hurt the school down the road. LOOK AROUND THE CORNER.

Why as an accredited university would this even pass your mind, much less go into effect

Upper classmen deserve the opportunity to live in a safe, secured environment while completing their degree program. SCAD should be more selective in accepting new students and limiting the student body size so that there is no contention for housing or classes. Both those situations occur today and should be remedied ASAP.

I live off campus and this is is bs

My son is going to be a senior and doesn’t drive. Additionally the merit aid is based on the student living in campus. This change is inherently unfair.

The prioritization of overadmittance and money over student welfare and success is disgusting. Should the college continue down this path, I can see its demise clearly.

Every single year our Junior has had to worry about scholarships and housing. Have you seen the cost of off campus housing?! How are kids supposed to afford that?!?! SCAD could control admissions and housing, they choose not to.

I already had to do an entire year virtual without my scholarship because SCAD screwed me over with their housing system I can’t do it again

Please allow the upperclassmen to have housing!

I'm the parent of a junior, who has been working extremely hard during their career at SCAD, and producing amazing projects and top grades. Why is the school penalizing the students who have spent the most time, energy, and money at the school by making it difficult for them to find housing in their last two years? I know that this problem is not unique to SCAD, but maybe the university should re-examine its admissions strategy so that housing -- and classes -- aren't so difficult to provide.

The fact that this impacts upperclassmen who are dependent on scholarships that require on-campus housing is terrible, and needs to be addressed
