We, the residents of the 100 Block of 3rd Ave South and adjacent areas, petition the Town to not move to re-design or widen the 100 Block of 3rd Ave South. Specifically, we ask the town to preserve the current design and landscape of the R-01 zones single residence 100 block, foregoing any physical changes to the current layout of the block (other than painted sharrows ) and therefore maintain the Old Naples charm and character of this neighborhood which the town and residences seek to preserve and which is referenced in The Comprehensive Plan as the City’s #1 goal.

The current design of the block accommodates all users: walkers, drivers and bikers and provides a natural traffic calming benefit for all as they approach Gulf Shore Boulevard. We support sharrows on this less traveled block of 3rd Ave South because it provides for the complete public and because widening the road will only negatively impact the charm of the neighborhood, reduce green space, and importantly, destroy the natural traffic calming benefit the current design provides.
