The education and experience I received at MHSA is unprecedented and has completely shaped how successful I am today. What a bright spot for Milwaukee.

An Arts curriculum is crucial now as well as in the future...kids need to not only think but to do. Kids learn in many different ways not just sitting at a desk and being lectured at.

Some people attend high school of the arts because they can be themselves. The should be able to dress freely.

I wouldn't be who I am today without MHSA and any cuts made would be detrimental to the futures of all of these kids.

As a Class of 2014 alumnus of MHSA, I can confidently say that the arts education I received while in high school greatly enriched my educational experience. My experiences in the Jazz Lab and Wind Ensemble helped me think critically and creatively in other classes, especially my ChE classes at UW-Madison. Additionally, I had some of the most fun experiences of my life playing music with my classmates and friends, and I never could've experienced that anywhere else. Removing arts teachers from the staff or allowing students to take less than one art class a day would cause a lot of damage to the MHSA experience. I hope the school board will realize that a strong arts education is not unnecessary, but one of the most beneficial tools a person can have.

Without the Arts, this school is like all the rest. The Arts really helping me with reaching my goal as a dance major and the teachers they are helping me to become a better dancer to receive great scholarships .

Having a quality arts education is so important! Without MHSA and it's amazing arts staff, I wouldn't be the person I am today. They enocouraged me in my dreams and helped me achieve my goals as a musician. They allowed me to grow as person, which in turn made me respectful, responsible, and hard working. They pushed me to always do my best, which has made strive for greatness in all aspects of my life. Please don't cut the funding for the arts programs. Please don't cut the funding for the amazing and hard working arts teachers. They are the heart and soul of MHSA. The two hours you get with them daily are irreplaceable. Students are better off with it, that without. The alumni of MHSA are living proof.

I think art education has been thrown under the rug and is not seen something we can make it off of. But I believe no matter what we do in our lives arts education will help us open our minds no matter if its dance, writing, art, music, or vocal
