We, the undersigned, have been indelibly impacted, molded, and shaped by our experiences at and connections with Milwaukee High School of the Arts (MHSA). We implore the Board of Directors to uphold the fundamental tenet of the core arts curriculum- 2 hours of arts instruction daily- that was implemented at the inception of MHSA. The integrity of the curriculum must be preserved and offered to every student at MHSA. The implementation of the arts curriculum must be delivered by adequate certified arts teacher staffing. In light of the budget deficit presented to administration for 2017-2018, this is in jeopardy. We strongly recommend that the Board of Directors exert its full power and influence toward funding this extraordinary institution appropriately so that generations to come will have access to the unique experience arts-based education provides.

Milwaukee High School of the Arts should be just that...an ARTS school. Resources should be going to the students, to better their education and enrich their talents. This school is not supposed to be "just another high school," and that is what is transpiring.
MHSA changed my life and I'm so glad that I was able to attend that school. I transferred there in my Junior year and I'm so glad that I did. The two hour daily instruction of one's art is so critical to this school and what it stands for. We need to keep this system!
MHSA class of 2000. The arts shape our culture and our character, and arts education helps produce creative, thinking, compassionate, capable adults who thrive in both arts-based and other fields. Please protect the unique and invaluable education MHSA provides.
I am a proud alumni of The MHSA music program ! These 4 years were the most informative and influential of my life. Youth absolutely need the arts to allow them to voice themselves and grow in confidence. Please keep it alive. Class of 1990
I don't feel like they should shut this school down. This is the only arts school that allows us to be ourselves and major in something that we love. I am a theatre major here, if this school gets shut down, there will be nothing like this out there for us.
I love my school how it is we need more of these art type of programs or classes do NOT GET RID OFF THEM!
MSHA has been a great school for decades. The city of Milwaukee needs this school and its mission.

Please protect the tradition of arts at MHSA by keeping 2 hours/day for arts, and protect staff morale and school integrity by appointing a new administrator who treats all staff, students, families and the arts curriculum with respect.
