I am from the Class of 2011 and I majored in Jazz, Dance, and Creative Writing. Please Preserve the Arts; they are continuing to mold and shape youth to be anything they desire to be!

Although I did not go to MHSA, my brother and many of my friends did. The classes and extracurricular activities they are offered are things that many people would have to pay hundreds of dollars for, but they are available to all Milwaukee children as part of their MPS education. There aren't many places where public school students have these opportunities.

This school is home I would'nt be who I am today if it wasn't for the staffing and the arts. I am an alumni and the arts got me far in my life today. We are a unique school with so much talent. I am a proud graduate from Milwaukee high school of the Arts.

The arts will always be a part of me. I love that school and would hate to see it go.

The existence of the arts at MHSA must remain in its place, for all eternity. Allow it to proceed the devoir it sensibly has to the city of Milwaukee. Please, do not remove the vitality of what makes MHSA its name and ultimately the prosperity it brings to the city of Milwaukee through its prospects of the past, present and arriving future. Please become an addition to the guardians that have spent many years as devotees of their gratitude and allegiance towards the youth. The diligence invested in this vision needs to be honestly acknowledged. Understand, MHSA is a relevant conduit for the nature of our communities.

The arts are important for kids to express emotions, talent, and creativity. Do stifle a high schoolers activities to express through the arts.

To MHSA I owe every fiber of who I am today. Frankly, to remove the program that shaped so many things in my life would be disheartening. It gave me the spark of creativity, taught me that limits are endless when you truly believe in what you're doing, and gave me an appreciation for the arts that I'll have forever. It would be a crime against all of today's youth. Having two hours of arts education daily fostered so many positives. Creativity, teamwork, constructive criticism, problem solving skills, and the like. These are things that I don't see a general education ever providing any students. I'm whole heartedly advocating that this program stay exactly where it is. Kids need to know that they are capable of so much more than getting an A on a test....that's all.

Don't take the literal only arts focused school out of milwaukee! Don't silence a potential leaders creative genius

This is the school that I want to graduate in. This school is the reason on why I am me today. If maybe students were appropriately informed about this issue, I am garanteed that we'd work harder to push our grades and test scores up. I am guaranteed we'd see results. Attending MHSA is a blessing that I refuse to let anything get it ripped away. This school is were dreams have begun and flourished. MHSA needs to stand still.

As a parent of two MPS grads (Tippecanoe School for the Humanities, Gold Meir, Roosevelt Middle School for Arts, and High School for the Arts), I can attest of the benefits for an on-going arts curriculum; and as an instructor at MATC I can also attest that whenever I hear one of my new students have had art as part of their academic experience--I am welcoming a well rounded person! Do not undermine the value of arts in our community! FAU

The importance of the arts curriculum goes beyond the in-depth knowledge, experience, and appreciation for the arts. It bleeds into all other aspects of school performance. It builds connections with teachers who have an arts background, it encourages students to attend classes because they enjoy their chose art, and it assists with building lifelong relationships by connecting students through their passions for the duration of their time at the school.

As a PhD poet, I chose to teach at MHSA specifically for the arts focus.
