Why change a successful school?

The High School of the Arts was instrumental to many of my friends for them to grow as children and to become the productive adults they are. We cannot lose this precious resource for our children's creativity.

I attended arts all 4 years of my highschool career and i love it and miss it so much. It was honestly a place where i felt home i visited soo many highschools and arts the only school i didnt feel out of place or like i would be judged for being me. I learned so much from my major that i will carry with me for the rest of my life and i met friends that will forver be apart of my life. I have never alot of teacher's that actually cared about me as a human. I am proud to be a arts alumni

Arts saved me at a time of critical rehabilitation from a brain injury in high school. The music I was able to make during two hours of my school day allowed for a successful recovery inside and out of the school day. The staff was accomediating and reasonable in their expectations. I can never thank those educators enough for allowing me the safe space to recover through my music and academic environment.

I wouldn't be who I am today if it wasn't for MHSA. I found friends from all walks of life whose differences helped shape me into a strong woman. I had teachers who supported me in sports, dance, singing, musicals and academics.

I don't feel like they should shut this school down. This is the only arts school that allows us to be ourselves and major in something that we love. I am a theatre major here, if this school gets shut down, there will be nothing like this out there for us.

If it wasn't for MHSA I wouldn't be the leader and talented individual I am today. This is one of the successful schools in MPS. Dont ruin a good thing

Art is really significant to people. Art is a reflection of the artist life or the world. Without art the world would be meaningless and many of children would grow up not know how important art is and how art shaped this world.

Please keep funding the school. This is my alma mater and it was beneficial in making me the teacher I am today.

Alumni of MHSA - I would not have made it through high school without a creative outlet. It made me who I am today - strong, confident, and independent. Lots of students aren't athletes, but are artists. MHSA is needed.

Arts programming is ESSENTIAL for a well rounded and thriving society. It allows and provides an integral outlet for students to openly express their viewpoints in their own way. Cutting funding and restricting artistic freedom can be harmful to the future of MHSA and its students.
