Going to MHSA gave me opportunities that I'm certain few other people in Milwaukee, let alone the country, got to experience. Through myself and others like me, it has undoubtedly made the world a better place in and out of the arts, and I strongly urge you to support it.

This school is amazing. Honestly the arts benefit us in so many ways. Taking it away is like taking a fishes water away. These programs and our art areas for some are all we have.

Milwaukee High School of the Arts will always have a special place in my heart; it helped shape me into the young woman that I am today! Not only did I get exceptional training in the vocation of my choice (theatre) but I also made professional connections in the theatre world, met lifelong friends and made countless of memories. MHSA was one of the first places were I felt I was at a home away from home because I was constantly surrounded by hundreds of other students with a love for the arts. I had the rare opportunity of being able to hone my talent in theatre for two hours everyday; training I would not be able to afford outside of MHSA and would then have to wait an additional four years to get in college. I can now proudly state that I am a graduate of MHSA on my resume and for that, I'm ahead of the curve when I attend auditions. Although the staff and students at MHSA are wonderful, the arts—theatre, art, vocal and instrumental music, dance and poetry—is what makes MHSA home. As the only "arts school" in the state of Wisconsin, I feel that it is imperative that MHSA continues to offer the arts education for two hours every day!

Milwaukee High School of the Arts was one of the best experiences of my life. The teachers are phenomenal, the curriculum is top notch, and I was properly nurtured and prepared to pursue a career in music. Art has the power to change lives, and kids deserve a chance to experience the best possible education.

We can find a way to fund the education of our youth in the arts. Our society greatly benefits from the arts that are studied here.

My daughter graduated from MHSA in 2014. The arts program was an integral part of her learning experience at MHSA. If it wasn't for the 2 hours of instruction in orchestra she wouldn't have attended this high school. She now plays in her college orchestra and takes lessons from a violinist in the Madison Symphony Orchestra. MHSA has such a strong arts program it would be unfortunate if this component was weakened.

Music became a huge part of me, something that kept me going every day. Thanks to MHSA and the arts program it has, I was capable of developing new skills and learning all thanks to the amazing teacher I had. I can in all honesty say that without it I wouldn't be where I am today. It would be a shame to take such a great opportunity away from other students who can benefit from pairing arts with academics.

This is an arts school and it would be a shame if we lost the arts program. This is part of what keeps MHSA great!

This amazing high school was my second home for four years. Everyone should have access to an arts based education. It's equally as enriching to the student as it is to the community around them.

Studies shows that learning through Arts has a better impact, because Arts integration uses teaching practices that have been shown in brain-based research to improve comprehension and long-term retention.
