Art is essential to a well-balanced society. For artists in particular, of any age, life with limits on art is like having limits on breathable air.

The arts are extremely important in the education of all students. The programs should be expanded rather then tightened. Look to the State and Federal Government for funding. The Pentagon doesn't know what happened to 8 trillion dollars. Why are the schools still having bake sales and the military budget is gluttonous.

It is tragic that one of the very schools that achieves a natural integration of students across all races, classes and abilities, is jeopardizing the only program of its kind in the state of Wisconsin. Gems like MHSA must be preserved with sufficient funding to maintain the integrity, or fidelity, to the mission and vision of the school.

This is outrageous. These kids enrolled at that school to study art. Crushing their dreams isn't the way to give them a good start in life.

Both of my children attended MHSA, as Art majors. They have utilized these skills in adulthood and are successful contributing members of the Milwaukee Area Community. The Arts is proven strategically to be beneficial to students.

An arts education is beneficial to a child and MHSA has demonstrated for decades that it benefits students. Having access to a non-traditional high school that puts value on creativity instead of sportsball and petty fighting between cliques has been so beneficial for students and has been the only reason many of these kids ended up graduating. It's heartbreaking that MPS thinks it's more important to hire someone to Facebook than to hire actual teachers. It's sad that MPS doesn't think educating students and helping them to get a high school dioma is a worthy goal. Cutting arts education at MHSA is destroying MHSA, a successful high school. MPS should be ashamed.

Arts programming is crucial. A fundement to a youth's understanding towards the world today. Another language, an alternate voice, an expression unlocked until now.

My daughter is a 2011 grad of MHSA. It was a perfect fit for her and for our family. She is who she is because of her excellent teachers. Please support the young people of our city by supporting MHSA. Thank you.
WHY would you do this at an ARTS school?
