The Arts kept me out of Milwaukee's cold and harsh streets. If it wasn't for Raymond Roberts, there is no telling where I would be.

I went to school here, made all my teenage memories at, made all sorts of life long friends that have become like family to me in each and every way. Being at MHSA gave me a sense of belonging. This is where bright futures are made from. This is the ONLY High School that has these programs as part of the curriculum instead of after school programs like other High School's have. This is where I want my children to go to High School and make something of themselves. Some of Hollywood's best actors and actress, and TV day and night time actors and actress have gone to school here. Please don't take this away from our children and those of us that went to this beloved School. Class of 1990

I would not have had the success I've had in my life if I hadn't had my arts experience at MHSA.

This was a place of creative freedom. Why should this generation be stripped of that privilege?!

I think it is important to continue the exceptional standards that MHSA has brought to the community by keeping the Teachers who have upheld those standards. Keep the teachers!

As both as an alumni and former teacher of MHSA I have both seen and lived the change and opportunities that the arts makes in the lives of students and the community. Arts programs change lives and must be preserved in a public school setting and not just limited to those who have the resources to pay for it. Some of the greatest expressions of the arts comes from those who's lives have challenged them the most. To deny children the opportunity and access of artistic expression is to take away the voice of generations to come.

This school is one of the best things a child can experience. Ddenying them the chance to think outside the box early on, negates them a better chance to problem solve as adults.

This school allowed me to develop my skills as a dancer and gave me the self-confidence to dance professionally for 15 years. It allowed many of my friends a safe haven where we felt accepted and blessed to have great teachers and facilities. Why would you want to take away a school's curriculum that has brightened so many lives?

High School of the Arts made me a even stronger dancer then I already was, and you can be who ever you want to be there as a student

Our family are musical artists and visual artists. Both our children went to MILWAUKEE HIGH SCHOOL OF THE ARTS. They are now young adults whose paths have always included music and art. They were able to share so much with talented individuals from very diverse backgrounds. They both have said countless times, how happy they were to have had the rigorous arts education and the fine academic education that were intertwined. It has instilled in both of them a self-discipline and appreciation for what others contribute to our world. This is a crown jewel in a district that needs to incorporate more of the arts throughout all of the schools. I know this because I have taught and been a School Counselor in the MPS. It was my pleasure to have been a part of the district. I only wish I could have continued, but my positions were paid for by grants - which unfortunately ran out. I urge MPS to make this a priority. What's the point in having an arts school that doesn't teach the arts? I'd rather see a dance class than a phys ed class any day. It's still exercise, either way. Keep the Arts in a "for the Arts" school!

I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunities I had at MHSA, both in terms of the artistic endeavors it allowed me to pursue, and the diverse culture that it provided. I hope current and future generations have the opportunity to enjoy its benefits as well.

We are a family filled with actors, dancers, writers, musicians and more and many developed and blossomed in their fields in the classrooms of MHSA. today I can sit at the Pabts, Sunset Playhouse and the Skylight and live beautiful Performances. Some have travelled this country from coast to coast and even across borders to bring joy through their art. A few have come back to MHSA and given back by working with the students there. We need the Arts! We need MHSA to keep our youth exposed to the benefits of the Arts!
