Learning music was the only thing that kept me going to high school. It taught me creativity, and that we are all connected through music.

Don't destroy the artist magic of this school!

This school has enrich so many of our lives and to take that away from the future generations is a CRIME!

In this time of cut, cut, cut, let's take a step back and help foster the arts in our youth. My whole life has been shaped by the things I had learned and the teachers and students I have worked with at MHSA. Support Arts, Arts Teachers, the Arts Curriculum, and the School itself. Thank You.

The Creative writing program at MHSA helped me more in one year than I ever could have thought. I met people doing the same thing as me that ultimately helped me, pushed me out of my comfort zone as a writer and helped me grow as a person as well as it did academically. The teachers in my general classes taught differently than teachers in other schools I had been to and I understood it better because it was always relatable; they either brought it back to our majors, or they brought it back to something they knew we liked on a more personal level. The teachers knew you better because of the majors, it helped us find solace through the day going to a class we knew we would look forward to, playing, dancing, writing, acting, singing at levels we probably wouldn't have in another school with a minimal arts program, or no arts program at all. Bottom line, arts are important to our everyday life; we wouldn't be admiring or functioning in the buildings we inhabit without creatives to draw/design them. We wouldn't have the entertainment we do, a $479.23 billion dollar industry that we all enjoy in one way, shape or another. Arts keep us sane, art keeps us occupied, arts keep us focused, arts keep us happy, arts are just as important as food to some of us, everyone may not personally value it as much, but no one can factually doubt the value arts has in our lives, especially in a time when the country is being divided and arts bring us together in times of turmoil. A lot of us would go crazy without the music, the paintings, the poetry, the articles we read in the news, the outlets we have to let that out productively instead of doing things everyone might regret. When you think about taking art out of schools, think about the pieces of the future generations's souls you're ripping out, we can't let this happen -Douglas Miller a.k.a. Dee Phr3sh Art is power, it's our heart. You can never truly take that away.

The arts provided at MHSA allow students to study a major that they enjoy. It gives children our age the ability to be creative and use that part of our brain twice 5 days a week, unlikely other schools. The ability to have two hours of our selected major is what makes Arts so special. It's what makes it unique. Taking away the Arts is taking away people's identity, creativity, freedom, and talent by making a place with a special and unique environment and turning it into just another MPS school. Not saying that other schools are a terrible decision, however, with a school like MHSA, it gives people the option to challenge themselves and use their creativity in a positive way.

This was the best high school a teenager could go to.

I am an alumni of MHSA and cannot overstate the value of arts education. Art integrated curriculum grow well rounded, creative, problem solving adults.

MHSA is truly a unique, one of kind place where creativity, understanding, and diversity embrace to provide an exemplary education. I would not trade my 4 years at MHSA for any other school in the world. This gem needs to be protected for future generations! If millions can be spent to remodel sports fields then money can earmarked to save arts education.

When the carroll university chamber singers did a Wisconsin recruitment tour back in January, we stopped at MPS. The music students at this school are the most dedicated, caring students I have ever seen. They are so grateful for the education they are given. Their education provides a different kind of mind to send out into the world. These kids minds will make a difference. Do not cut this program, please! Some of these students, the arts is all they have.

I visited this school on a college choir tour and the people I saw and the talent they showed are undeniable. It is still difficult to put into words the sort of awe that I had watching them perform for us. From that trip alone I can tell you that this is an integral part of the curriculum here, and anywhere.

Arts is the only unique high school out of the others in Milwaukee. Here I learned to be a better creative writer. Also I met cool friends and had cool adventures. Please don't take it down it'll ruin a another kid's experience!

MHSA gave me ample time throughout junior and senior year to pursue my art, and to build a portfolio. Now I am going to be attending one of the top vis art schools in the country. Not to mention that having two hours a day to draw kept my stress down, gave me opportunities that turned into a salaried job, college credit, and numerous awards, as well as keep me attentive in my academic classes. No less than two hours at MHSA.

MHSA inspired me to become a teacher and I would love for the arts curriculum to be there for my children's future.
