It amazes me that MPS is putting this fantastic program on the chopping block. Shame on them!

MHSA education was the best experience my granddaughter could have had at that time in her life. She discovered herself through the Arts. The faculty was great to help ALL the students to be the best they could be.

I was the Student Body President for the class of 2013 and I know that so many students benefited from being able to go to a school that supported them academically and artistically. To cut the arts out of Milwaukee High School of the Arts would be bad for the students, the community, and Milwaukee Public School

Closing down the school would be ridiculous. And closing down ANY Department would be foolish. It's a way that is students get to communicate to the outside world. A way to express ourselves without using words. So for there to have been any kind of dicussion about the decision to cancel, whether it be the school as a whole or a department that is apart of the school, is astonishing and inconsiderate to others.

Fund the arts! They keep us truly human in a world searching for happiness.

My three daughters are all MHSA alumni. Two graduated from UW-Madison and the third currently attends Columbia Chicago. All three credit their arts-based education for their educational success.

This school changed my life. I grew up in an environment of intolerance and fear of people who were different from the model presented to me as a child. Without the diversity and compassion presented to me thru the faculty and staff of this institution I would not have been prepared to be a good world citizen. Class of 1988

Shame on anyone who signs off on dismantling the arts

My husband went to MHSA where he formed strong, influential, and lasting relationships with peers and teachers alike, which contributed to his great success as a working artist. This school provides amazing community and opportunity for creative minds - an ESSENTIAL quality in the human experience, as well as all career fields. When asked to cut arts funding to support war efforts, Winston Churchill replied "Then what are we fighting for?" And I wholeheartedly agree.

The 2 1/2 years I was at arts were the best that I've experienced ever, everyone is always smiling and there Is always someone there to make you laugh. MHSA is more than a school, it's a family and everyone there is accepted for what they are.

My experience at MSHA was instrumental in shaping the person I am today. I cannot express how important it is to have the arts available as part of an education.

So thankful for my arts education that I was able to receive at MHSA it truly helped me express myself through my teenage years and I credit who I am today to that.

I was a student at MHSA from 1994-1998 and cannot stress enough how important my education in the arts was to my life since. Please do not take this opportunity away from present and future students!

This school is valuable to the students and community. If children are immersed in the arts, their math and science scores rise. They are also better thinkers and organizers.
