I owe much of my success to Mrs. Pemberton. I often went to her before my guidance counselor as she guided me in the best direction for colleges and picking my career. There’s was never a time I couldn’t ask her for help with college applications or preparing for the SAT.

As a future educator it is sickening that our department gets cut before many others that deserve budget cuts....looking at you congress....

I am a first generation black college graduate in my family. I would not have gotten to the college of my choice without the hand of my college advisor. Save this position!

What kind of analysis was done to eliminate the HSHS College and Career Center and its director? It is unwise to eliminate a position without fully assessing the personality of the school, the students, and the community. Losing Syble Pemberton and the assistance she gives to HSHS will create a negative impact that you cannot imagine.

This job is essential to providing a future and hope to students who may not otherwise have a plan to pursue a career.

Our school needs this position to stay open. Our students NEED the services that Mrs. Pemberton provides to prepare our students for college. How can anyone defend the disbanding of our College and Career Center. Why? Answer me this question. You can't. Disbanding the College and Career Center is not only idiotic but destructive. This is beyond a disservice to our students.

It is so important to invest in our students. It pays dividends in stronger communities.

In marginalized communities, many times our current students are the first in their families to pursue higher educational opportunities. This process is challenging and convoluted enough let alone how insurmountable it could be for families trying to navigate the process without support and guidance. This whole idea of eliminating this position seems to be counterintuitive to supporting our disadvantaged communities.

There needs to be greater investment in the East End. Stop making excuses for the students not excelling, if they are not provided adequate resources then they won’t. What happens for the students outside the building in the West End needs to be reinforced in the building for the East End. Put the money where the need is, no who holds all the money and power.

This position should not be eliminated as Ms. Pembleton is one of the best student advocates HSHS could ever have! She is about the STUDENTS AND THE STUDENTS ONLY. How on earth could this even be happening to a person who certainly has our students best interests at heart. There are several teachers/administrators jobs SHOULD be eliminated this is not the one! If you choose for it to be the one then Ms. Pembleton deserves another position where she can still advocate for the students of HSHS.

I'm a western Henrico resident who cares about my eastern Henrico neighbors. I support Highland Springs High School College Career Center because I want to see every child given every opportunity to grow and learn to fullest capacity. Schools with fewer college and vocationally educated parents need additional resources to help students connect with post-high school education.

This is a MUCH needed position within the school. Most students have no ideas where to start and i would have never considered college if it wasn't for Mrs. Pemberton. Don't do this.

College and career prep is INTEGRAL for high school students, taking away this resources is outlandish.

This is absolutely appalling. How is there not money in the budget for this program? The students at HSHS depend on these services to help them navigate their future. This is shameful.

Mrs. P helped so many of us get to where we are when many wrote us off. She is a pivotal assest to the Highland Springs community. Please keep her and her department.
