Dear Mayor Safo and Police Chief Evangelous,
We the undersigned protest the directive to police chaplains not to pray in the name of Jesus. The Constitution states: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech etc.
Christian chaplains were appointed by Congress for over 200 years and were allowed to pray in the name of Jesus during that time.
Congress wanted to make sure a state religion was not established, but wanted to insure the freedom of religion. There is no separation of church and state in the Constitution. Our country became great because Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was lifted up in Chistian nation. Do not succumb to political correctness. Keep America free!
I have been reading through the deeply personal stories many of you shared about why this restriction on our chaplains feels so wrong. My faith is the foundation of my life and watching this silencing of prayer is something I simply cannot accept. I am currently preparing to present our collected concerns directly to the department to ensure they understand that our history of liberty is not up for debate.

The momentum behind this plea proves that many of you refuse to see our traditions silenced. Feeling this level of support for my faith is moving and it confirms that we are fighting for something vital.
