By signing this statement, we show our commitment to programs that reach postpartum women in their strategic and operational plans and budgets, including updating the knowledge and skills of a range of providers, offering integrated PPFP services in facilities and communities, and ensuring that a broad range of contraceptive options are available to women, men and couples.
Seeing this kind of momentum confirms that the health of new mothers is a priority we can no longer ignore. I am grateful to everyone who has joined this movement to ensure families finally get the support they deserve during such a critical transition.

One basic reproductive right is that pregnant women possibly with a completed family after the coming delivery, are asked during the antenatal period: "Suppose you need a caesarean would you like a sterilisation then?" If yes further counselling and documentation follows. The antenatal papers should have a pre-printed space for this.

I am proud to provide and manage technical inputs to government's PPFP program in India to strengthen capacity of providers and facilities to provide quality PPFP services to women. PPFP can be a game changer in FP program in India. More options for FP methods are needed for postpartum women in the country.
