The wind farm applications have been approved and our future here in Powys finally looks brighter. I am overwhelmed that we pushed this over the line for our local economy and our environment. We must now stay vigilant to ensure the benefits truly reach every corner of our community.
We, the undersigned, noting the urgency for action on climate change, and the benefits to economy, community and environment from onshore wind, support the five wind farm applications that will form the basis of a Public Inquiry due to begin in Welshpool in June 2013.
We believe that wind energy will bring a much needed economic boost to Powys. The wind farms will provide jobs for local people and will give young people an opportunity to gain skills that will enable them to stay in the area rather than look for jobs elsewhere. The community investment funds coming from the wind farms will help to make Powys more sustainable and resilient; the hosting of wind turbines will help local farmers to diversify; and the capital investment will provide great opportunities for local businesses.
For every megawatt of electricity produced from Wind Turbines it equates to 2,600 fewer tons of CO2 being released into the atmosphere. This can only be good news.
If you are fed up with the negative campaign against Wind Power please sign the petition.
Thank you all so much for signing and all the comments which are so relevant to us here in Powys and the whole of the UK for a sustainable energy future.
We are grinding toward the 250 signature mark and reaching that milestone will signal to the inquiry panel that our community is fully behind these wind farms. Please send this link to your neighbors right now to push us over the edge before the hearing begins.

I have been spending my evenings reading through your stories about wanting more opportunities for our children to remain here in Powys. This silence from the other side is frustrating but it only shows they are ignoring the future we are trying to build together.

Finally someone positive about wind. Onshore wind is far more cost effective than offshore, and is turnaround is quick. It's quick, clean and lasts for ever. Whether climate change is out of control already, or not - we need to exploit this free energy now, whilst the fossil fuels gradually run out. Think ahead. Thanks for this petition - I know a lot of people feel the same, but the coverage is all about the 'anti's'.

About time we actually did something for the environment here. Good for local businesses too.

Living in Powys my whole life I can see we need these jobs. Too many people have to move away to find work and this would help keep kids here.

Fed up with all the NIMBYs moaning about the view. Clean energy is way more important than someone's scenery.
