Huge opportunity to encourage the skate community and get kids involved in something worthwhile.

As a mother of a BMX fanatic ( now an adult) I spent many happy years at both outdoor and indoor parks. If you would like to see an example of young people who are friendly, helpful, supportive and encouraging of each other and newcomers, make your way to a skatepark. As adults we can be quick to complain about young people hanging about. Is it not about time we supported them in something that, to me, would only have a positive impact within our community.

Brought this up at an Portobello community council years ago and it was disregarded. Very important, young people of this area are in need of a place to skate- pls sign and share!! Invest in things like this and not on trams - am I right lads?!

Aye, but there is currently nothing to do in portobello for teenagers. It would be a well used skatepark

YES, This should happen. Portobello would benefit very well from a public skatepark. It would provide an entertainment for teenagers apart from loitering. Bruh this is a perfect opportunity

With the closure of Bristo square and the space this past weekend it is clear that scottish skateboarding is slowly begining to be killed off. Skating around Edinburgh can be rough whether it's due to being kicked out by security/police or just being hassled by the locals. It's clear to all skateboarders that a new park is needed. it'll also give people a push towards doing a healthy outdoor sport such as skateboarding.
