Manchester City Council has received a application to open a "Sex Establishment" in the basement of 103 Portland Street (What was Torrore Restaurant). This petition is intended to give the local council an indication how people feel about this application. Portland Street is one of Manchester's main thouroughfare, is part of a route to many of the cities main attractions (Theatres, Restaurants, hotels, Town Hall, Library, Bridewater hall etc), is this really the kind of establishment that should feature so prominently on one of the main streets - the street which is central to so many activities such as the Manchester 10k run, Sky ride, gay pride parade etc? The proposed opening hours of this "establishment" will be 19:00-04:00 7 days a week, and it is based in a majority residential building, surley there are more suitable locations for such establishments?
