DONNA IS STAYING AND HER ROLE IS OFFICIALLY SAVED!! I AM BEYOND THRILLED THAT WE SECURED THIS FUTURE FOR ALL THE MUMS IN OUR AREA!! THANK YOU FOR FIGHTING FOR THIS WITH ME EVERY STEP OF THE WAY!!
My breastfeeding support worker is having her role removed by the NHS. Without her so many mums in the area will not receive the support needed and may fail to breastfeed their babies. Please sign this petition in the hopes that we can save Donna's breastfeeding support role.
Removing breastfeeding support workers is a false economy. The support they offer for mums to bond with baby during those early months empower parents making it less likely to need services later on, such as mental health for PND. A small investment to save a lot of dosh later on.

I was a breastfeeding mum in Upper Portslade in the 1960s, and I know from experience that breastfeeding is well worth supporting. I am lucky enough to have healthy adult children and grandchildren, and I want all new mums to have the same excellent help that I received.

Donna provided invaluable support to me at a pivotal moment in my child's life. It is very shortsighted to remove this post, Donna more than covers her salary with the impact she has, breastfeeding is known to reduce childhood illness and thus reduce the burden on the NHS.

Donna's help was invaluable when I was struggling. She didn't just help with breastfeeding, she helped with all aspects of new baby life! I really dread to think what state I'd be in if I hadn't found her. The NHS should be guarding people like Donna with their lives!

Fact. Your child's immune system will not be fully develop until about 7 years. Breastfeeding allows your own immune system to protect your child. Our closest genetic relatives, primates, don't have antibiotic protection and they breastfeed for about 5 years. Increasingly we do not have antibiotic protection. Let us protect our children's health in the best way we can by learning the old skill of breastfeeding. If someone gave me some seeds I might be able to grow some food, but if a gardener taught me, I would be able to do it much more reliably. Growing food and feeding babies is possible in quite extreme circumstances if you have the right skill set. Save the teachers.
