Fact. Your child's immune system will not be fully develop until about 7 years. Breastfeeding allows your own immune system to protect your child. Our closest genetic relatives, primates, don't have antibiotic protection and they breastfeed for about 5 years. Increasingly we do not have antibiotic protection. Let us protect our children's health in the best way we can by learning the old skill of breastfeeding. If someone gave me some seeds I might be able to grow some food, but if a gardener taught me, I would be able to do it much more reliably. Growing food and feeding babies is possible in quite extreme circumstances if you have the right skill set. Save the teachers.

Removing the breastfeeding support worker is such a backward move.

Removing breastfeeding support workers is a false economy. The support they offer for mums to bond with baby during those early months empower parents making it less likely to need services later on, such as mental health for PND. A small investment to save a lot of dosh later on.

The support Donna has given in all the years she has worked has saved a lot of worried, anxious mums and dads etc in supporting their breastfeeding. It is part of the reason why our breastfeeding stats have gone up and it is prove that with support many mothers have done brilliantly in breastfeeding and have continued over and beyond the recommendations and have breastfed for longer, even mothers who nearly gave up have had t support from Donna and our breastfeeding supporters. This is a lifeline for our babies and without this very crucial support many mothers would have given up. Yes there are lots of cuts and money to be saved but not on t services which needs it most. Past history shows if a service has or is doing very well then it gets cut which has happened many times over. Donna I applaud you for your hard work and supportive caring person you are and you should not have been treated in the manor in which you have. Good luck..

An absolutely fundamentally important role, breastfeeding support workers, being removed is totally illogical. So fundamental to a good nutritional and emotional start to our children's lives.

Please do not remove breast feeding support workers, the figures are low as there isn't enough support! New mums and babies need this support.

Breastfeeding support should be increasing not being removed.

Cutting breastfeeding support is extremely shortsighted.

The breastfeeding support worker are completely invaluable to so many mothers, especially new mothers who are struggling emotionally and physically to breastfeed. More support will ensure more mothers are able to breastfeed their babies which positively impacts the first months of the babies health and development. We need to keep all breastfeeding support workers employed in jobs across the UK to offer these paramount services.

Without help from Donna I wouldn't still be feeding my 9 month old. Her support is invaluable.

30 years ago all the ante natal advice was 'breast is best', however, after the birth it was nearly impossible to get good advice and it felt that the health professionals would be happier if you just put your baby on formula. Fortunately I did eventually get some good advice and I am so grateful to those people for their support. Please do not withdraw this service to mother's and their babies, it is short sighted and will cost the NHS far more in the long term.

Breastfeeding is the healthiest start in life for a baby with long term health benefits. Although it's natural it is not easy, especially with a first baby. Women and babies need help and support to succeed and continue.

Please continue to support breastfeeding. It's better for our children and more cost effective than formula.
