The current width restrictions in place on several public footpaths and bridleways in Thurrock are restricting access to Mobility Scooters and Wheelchair users alike and have forced many users to turn back or rethink their routes around their local area.

Certain footpaths are not big enough for scooters and wheelchairs and restrict access with kissing gates and padlocked gates. Some paths are not even suitable for disabled access.

We are calling for full access to all these trails within the Thurrock area and allow disabled users to enjoy themselves as much as the able bodied person can.

Being able to go out and about especially in the country is what keeps me sane. OK I have to use an all terrain mobility scooter now to do it, so please open up access now.

As a mobility scooter user it's disappointing to come across kissing gates, stiles or width restrictions on otherwise accessible routes, forcing you to turn back.

Restricting access to the disabled goes against the Equalities Act. Change these structures and get legal!

Disabled people should be entitled to do things able bodied people can and all these restrictions are limiting their lives.

That's without car users thinking it's their right to park 2 wheels on the pavement cutting the width of pavement down to nearly half!

We need a national policy for disabled access to footpaths and bridleways.

Access to as many paths, bridleways etc opens up a new world for disabled people using wheelchairs and scooters. So often they can't get through and are denied the right to exore and enjoy their environment.

There are many disabled people who enjoy the utdoors and restricting access can be detrimental
