Please Do Not Pass the Investment Resolution

I've seen this type of policy do more harm than good.

The resolution is anti israel and anti Semitic.

This resolution does more to sow division in our own community than to address the issues it claims to care about. (Ward 1)

This resolution discourages diversity in Corvallis by convincing Jewish residents that this is an unsafe place for them. Please consider that this is perhaps an objective of the people who support BDS.

Despite what are likely good intentions, please consider this resolution as an attempt to ward off feelings of unbearable helplessness toward violence in the world, more than it is actually doing something that helps, while also imparting unintended, divisively harmful consequences. Thank you.

This petition is a piece of political theater-- if passed, it will have no influence on the foreign conflicts it purportedly concerns. And yet, its consideration alone has had the effect of creating tension and fear among people in Corvallis. The Council should consider what it is actually achieving for their constituents.

I live in the County

This kind of political grandstanding is an entirely symbolic effort that will have no impact positive or negative on conflict zones around the world. The City Council should defeat this resolution (and, indeed, it should not even consider these kinds of resolutions, as they lie outside the scope and expertise of the Council).

Corvallis needs you to focus on LOCAL needs. Don't be fooled by "feel good" words - they are not what they seem. (Ward 3)

Resolutions like this are inflammatory and discriminatory.

I am concerned that the passage of this resolution will create an uptick of antisemitic incidences in Corvallis; it is virtue signaling in the service of terrorism.

I would prefer the City to support policies and actions that bring the community together instead of resolutions and policies that divide us.

This petition is not appropriate for the city council to sign. It is out of your wheelhouse, and will encourage antisemitism in our town.

This is a clear attempt to make it prohibitive to sell any Israeli items. If this is followed through, China ought to also be included and you best include all technology and medical innovations from Israel, as well. it’s already hard enough to be visibly Jewish in Corvallis. My mezuzah was vandalized in such a way that the scroll was ruined; it was reported as a hate crime. I was assaulted bc I put down Jewish on a dating app. I experienced harassment bc I spoke at city hall. Please, don’t pass something that merely emboldens the antisemites vs doing anything remotely useful. sincerely, Someone who knows people in Israel, Gaza, & Iran bc I actually understand what’s going on currently.

It is dismaying that the Corvallis City Council has encouraged misguided groups who promote Hamas terrorists and antisemitism. Enough is enough!

This resolution appears to be beyond the scope of a small city's decision making, and it is upsetting local citizens. Those who support a Palestinian state and are furious with Israel need to find a different venue to express their concerns. Corvallis leaders need to stick to local, state, or regional issues. I did not elect you to speak for me on divestment, so please, don't.

I am firmly committed to the protection of Jews in Corvallis and adamantly oppose the resolution before the council. The council must disregard that which divides a community and work to create a harmonious environment that encourages business and growth. I stopped shopping in Corvallis as the pro-Palestine faction became more and more prevalent and the council began to entertain backing their resolution. Please bring back the Corvallis that I used to enjoy.
