We believe that Boars Head Sports Club should construct a platform tennis court for use by members. Platform Tennis is a great racket sport for all ages and particularly complements tennis as it is primarily a winter outdoor sport. Charlottesville already counts three clubs with platform courts which host several tournaments annually, drawing participants from the greater Mid-Atlantic region. Lacking platform tennis facilities, BHSC does not fully meet the needs of members like the signers of this petition.

I was just out at the club staring at that patch of empty space where the courts should definitely be and it honestly seems like such a missed opportunity when you think about how cold it is getting. I have been chatting with a few folks who play over at the other clubs and they are all saying the same thing about how much we are missing out on for the winter season.

I honestly never thought we would see this kind of momentum when I first drafted this because it felt like a total long shot. It is just wild to see so many of you wanting the same thing for the club and honestly it makes me wish we were out there playing right now even if it is freezing.

Would love to learn to play. As the University Foundation is using the Sports Club as part of their 4 star resort experience, this would be a perfect addition.
Paddle would be a great addition to the BHSC. I remember when they used to have two courts.
I support building paddle courts at Boars Head. It would be a great compliment to the already great squash and tennis facilities.
Platform tennis is a much needed addition to the club. With so many new members joining court time is becoming more difficult to get!
I believe APTA also has grant money that can go towards this is the paperwork is filled out. The courts in chapel Hill where we played a tournament this weekend had courts that were built on grant money from the APTA so private clubs can qualify

I started playing platform tennis about 20 years ago in New Jersey where it is a very popular and growing winter sport that is played outside. It complements your tennis game, and provides national tournament competition. Charlottesville only has 5 or 6 restricted courts, so a court at Boars Head will be well received.
