This is a petition to support the creation of a PKD Day in New York on March 4. Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD), affects 1 in every 500 people, regardless of their age, ethnicity, sex or where they live. It is the most common of all life-threatening genetic diseases. Half of those diagnosed with PKD need dialysis or a kidney transplant to stay alive. Currently there is no cure for PKD and a lack of awareness about this disease puts people at risk. Proclaiming March 4 to be Polycystic Kidney Disease Day will certainly raise this awareness and encourage more funding for a much needed cure.

My brother has this and it is a total nightmare. Doctors act like it is nothing but it really ruins lives. We need this day.

1 in 500 is way too many. Why is nobody talking about this? Make it happen.

NYC should lead the way on this. Its time to stop ignoring people with genetic conditions just because they arent popular.

Please bring more attention to this. Living with PKD is a daily struggle nobody should have to go thru alone.
