I believe the future of Kitchener Park is in danger, under Pittwater Councils plan to sell off the intrinsic southern end of the park ( Land known in the community as Lot 3) for apartments. Constructing in another part of the park a regional commercial skateboard facility servicing greater Sydney, that is much larger than is necessary.

Kitchener Park in its entirety will be a vital part of the Mona Vale town centre's green open space, for future generations to enjoy. Lot 3 must be retained and the existing plan of management (POM 2009) should be urgently revised to encompass the needs of all park users, with input on its design from all of the community, that is thorough, meaningful and most importantly transparent.

Updates

December 6, 2014

The council remains silent regarding our concerns for Lot 3. I am currently preparing a formal request for their planning documents.

Dont let our public spaces be sold off to self interested developers - you NEVER get public spaces back.

We live in this area and have done for over 60 yrs so please don't spoil it now by cutting down trees and spoiling our park. The area is so short of playing fields now so don't make it worse. As for cutting down trees to replace it with concrete is out of the question. Wake up Pittwater Council or we might think it is better to merge.

Lot 3 should be put to better use and be to the benefit of the whole community for the current generation and generations to come. We don't need more apartments in Mona Vale. We need facilities that can be accessed by multi users.

A regional facility in Mona Vale, why? Our transport corridors are already over taxed. POM 2009 needs urgent review so that the will of the people prevails over the will of the council ! Look after the local people before those of Greater Sydney.

Lot 3 is the last piece of remnant woodland on the coast. It is an outdoor classroom for all our community to enjoy. Councillors please consider your communities green open space needs.

That Council would even consider selling such a wonderfull piece of public green space so close to the Mona Vale CBD beggers belief, a disaster for the bowling club and local residents if it goes ahead. Shame on those Councilors who vote to proceed further on the 15 Dec

Lot 3 is worth saving as it is, not much valuable green space left.

This development is unneccessary and ill conceived and will not in anyway enhance the environment of Mona Vale
