As you know, Mr. Oliver (Gil) Prince was the first student of color to serve as valedictorian, Blues' football captain, Student Body President, and member of the Board of Trustees. We think it would be monumental to name the new complex "Prince Stadium," in honor of Mr. Prince, one of the first students of color to integrate Asheville School. Although the decision to name the complex is in the hands of the donors, we believe that including this petition in our proposal will let each voice in our community be heard by our Board of Trustees and donors.

This would be a great, progressive decision for the school as a whole and for students of color.

Gil Prince is a legend at this school. It is about time the legacy reflects the real history of the place and not just whoever writes the biggest check.

I wholeheartedly support this! Mr. Prince is a fantastic role model and has done so much for this school. He exemplifies what it means to be an Asheville School Blue.

Completely agree with this. He has historical importance to the school, it'll be the first building named for a person of color, and we just celebrated a big anniversary for the integration of the school. I think that has much better reasoning than simply someone gave us a bunch of money.

I am in full support of the petition. Naming a complex after a person of color is sign of true progress at Asheville School. We are the change.

As a student of color and an athlete here at Asheville School, the idea of having the stadium named after Gil Prince means a lot. A lot of my fellow students of color believe that this is one huge way to show the transformation the Asheville School has gone through and a major step towards future goals.
