Our Message to Pierce College:
For 25 years, the weekend adult badminton program at Pierce College has been more than just a place to play—it has been a home for our community.
We are members of this program who come from across Los Angeles, some traveling over 30 miles, to be part of something special. This program has brought together people of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels. We have made lifelong friendships here. We have learned from each other, improved our skills through coaching and practice, and built a community centered around mutual respect, health, and the love of badminton.
Many of us have been coming here for years—some for over a decade. This gym has been where we celebrate birthdays, support each other through difficult times, and share in the simple joy of staying active together. For some of us, this is our primary form of exercise and social connection. For others, it's where we've learned discipline, sportsmanship, and the value of community.
We understand that Pierce College has administrative considerations to address, and we want to be clear: we are eager to work with the college to meet any and all requirements. Whether that means establishing formal registration systems, creating official rosters, adjusting payment procedures, or any other changes needed to comply with District policies—we are ready and willing to make it happen.
We are not asking the college to compromise its standards. We are asking for the opportunity to continue this program in a way that works for everyone.
Pierce College has been an incredible partner to our community for 25 years, and we are deeply grateful for that. We hope to continue this partnership for many more years to come.

I believe this program provides meaningful community benefit and I hope Pierce College will consider allowing it to continue with any necessary adjustments to meet administrative requirements.

Pierce College was a great place for my wife and I to play badminton on Sundays to get some exercise before the work week. We'll miss being able to play here, and we hope that the Pierce College administration will reconsider the shutting down of the badminton program.
We play badminton every weekend at Pierce. That was our only place where we could get some physical and mental wellness going. It was a place where we feel like a community where we share the love for the game we all love. Please restart the program.
We need a badminton court in San Fernando Valley as an avenue to healthy living. The program had been going on over 30+ years and it saddened us to see it ended. Thank you for your time.
Pierce college badminton fills a unique gap in the badminton community in SoCal and I played there quite a few times when other locations weren't available. Please bring it back, its historic, serves as a community hub and was also the first place I ever played badminton when i moved to LA a long time ago.
I learned to first play badminton in this gym in 1974. I had the pleasure of playing for the Pierce College Badminton Team from 1974-1976. Decades later I have made new friendships and hate to have these relationships end because we no longer have a place to play together.
I have played badminton for thirteen years. I am a USA Badminton National Certificated Umpire. I have played badminton at Pierce College on Sunday evenings, paying the $5.00 admission. It is a great group of people, always mindful of taking care of the venue. Badminton is a fabulous sport --an Olympic sport, in fact-- and an excellent social experience. It is the second most popular sport by participation in the world, and the #1 most popular racket sport in the world. Please don't take this Badminton venue away.

I have played badminton for 20+ years at Pierce College. This is the place where people from the community, from young to retired people meet and play Badminton. Badminton is one of the best sports for all ages, encouraging coordination, cardiovascular health, and social engagement across generations. We need to keep this badminton program running for years to come.
